Oakland Hills Kitchen

The existing kitchen layout in this Oakland hills home was short on space and natural light. The renovations borrowed several feet from the dining area to increase storage and countertop space, and removed interior walls to provide a sense of openness and visual connection throughout the public areas of the house. The work required insertion of structural beams in the ceiling, which rest on new posts and existing foundations. ALA provided suggestions to the owners, an artist and her husband, to develop the neutral palette of quartz countertops, white Shaker cabinets, mosaic backsplash tile, and stainless steel appliances.
